Running Man Episode 421 Recap
Broadcast Date: 07/10/2018
Winning team after finishing their two “Vacations” (more info Previous episode) settles on their new task Escape Room. They decide to use Se-Chan’s home as the location with his permission (forced). They video call Busan team and after watching them enjoying their food, they feel more like losing team themselves.
On their way to Se-Chan’s home they decide to spend $17 (from remaining $43.90) on Tteokbokki. For pork belly meat they call Hwang Je Seong (Big Comedy League) but he doesn’t pick up, he is their “friend help chance”.
Busan team worried about seasickness starts their part-time job. They have to catch Rockfish, Flatfish and Rock cod (72 in total). Kwang-soo gets scolded for no apparent reason while hauling their first net. They catch nothing from their first net other than a Filefish that looks like Kwang-soo.
They seem to able to catch everything else other than the fishes they need and again Kwang-soo gets blamed.
Haha is chosen to participate in escape room challenge and if he fails he will be punished with a water slap. Before the game starts they receive a call from Je-Seong. He agrees to become a part of the show and brings meat as a membership fee.
While they are eating tteokbokki, Se-chan receives order of various dishes from the members. While other members help Se-chan preparing food, So-min suddenly starts a skit with Jong-kook as a married couple. Everyone else joins in and Jong-kook shows his strict father side and his large appetite.
Je-seong appears in his Comedy League’s make-up, much to everyone’s amusement.
Busan team’s bad luck continues as they are not able to catch much. They are not much help as workers as they get scared of fishes easily. When alone, Jae-seok opens his pouch he received in previous episode and founds a ticket to Seoul. His task is to bring Suk-jin’s sock.
Kwang-soo joins Jae-seok on the condition that he slaps him on the forehead, so he can go home as well.
Haha starts Escape room challenge, he has to finish different tasks in different rooms which are given by members. First is Se-chan, Haha finds a note written by Se-hyung (Se-chan’s brother) item to buy; paper cups and “Chicken” towel. Se-chan have to identify incorrect word and write the correct one.
Jong-kook interrupts and asks both of them to write it down, both of them fails. Je-seong is amazed at their lack of knowledge and after low quality competition Haha is able to win (gaining bragging rights).
Busan team’s new part-time job is to draw caricature portraits of people at Busan market. While Suk-jin looks for customers, Kwang-soo and Jae-seok plans to steal his socks. Jae-seok practices his drawing skills by drawing his camera man Kwon-ryeol. Kwon-ryeol disagrees with the final result but when onlookers are able to identify him on the basis of the portrait, Jae-seok gets confident.
Some fans volunteer to get their portraits taken but gets terrified with the final results.
Haha meets his next challenger, new recruit Je-seong. Haha needs to control his laugh when Je-seong performs his act, to win the challenge. He fails miserably as the whole casts gets LOLed by Je-seong. As a penalty Haha gets water slapped. Their next vacation is surfing which Jonk-kook finishes by surfing in bathtub on a chopping board. Je-seong has to leave and receives his payment on the way (90 cents).
While Suk-jin was alone he also opened his pouch, his task was to switch his bag with Jae-seok. Kwang-Jae alliance and Suk-jin both tries to out maneuver each other. Kwango-soo get suspicious of Suk-jin’s after latter’s bad acting. Alliance finally makes their move, Kwang-soo holds Suk-jin while Jae-seok takes out his sock.
Alliance makes a run for it while being chased by Suk-jin. Tired and out of breath Suk-jin is left behind while the alliance gets in their van and drive away. After making a successful get away, Kwang-soo also receives his second slap and is able to clear all his debts.
Everyone except Suk-jin finishes their tasks as he finishes his part-time working in Busan till late night.
Overall I enjoyed this episode most out of all the four episodes of the series. It was like watching a team play together as a whole rather than relying on individual brilliance. It was not a laugh riot but still enjoyable and Je-seong was hilarious as ever. I would highly recommend you watch Je-seong in Comedy Big League, if you haven’t seen it yet.
